Transparent Solar Cells
There is a high tech farming facility looking at making their greenhouses more sustainable. Instead of just glass panels to let in natural sunlight, an approach is to overlay the glass panels with transparent solar cells so that energy can be generated to support the ongoing operations in the facility. The solar cells are to allow the full spectra of visible light to pass through so that the growth of crops will not be affected. It will be an advantage if the solar cells (or films) are flexible and can be bent. A piloting zone can be setup to test the viablity of the cells. If technology and business model are feasible, there will be 9000 sqm of area for deployment. Technology readiness level needs to be 8 and above.
Sustainable Biomass Processing
A biomass processing station is currently incinerating 1 tonne of plant based materials daily. While the throughput will be increased to 3 tonnes and more eventually, it is an opportunity for the station owner to evaluate approaches that are more sustainable than incineration which generates pollution and requires fuel. Technology providers need to have piloted solutions.
